Botox
Botox is one of the most popular non surgical treatments used in the reduction of lines and wrinkles. When injected into the facial muscles in minute quantities Botox temporarily relaxes the underlying muscles that would normally contract to cause fine lines and furrows.
Botox (Botulinum Toxin) is good for treating expression lines such as frown lines on the forehead and crow’s feet around the eyes. The lines and wrinkles are caused by overactive muscle movement wearing the collagen away which then causes the skin to wrinkle.
Botox can also be used to control excess sweating ‘Hyperhydrosis’ when injected under the arms or on the palms of the hands.
The procedure is relatively painless and takes between 10 to 20 minutes. You will begin to see the effects within three to four days, however lines can continue to improve up to a month after the injection. The results can last up to 4 months, re-treatment is then required.
The Treatment
The cosmetic treatment is a simple and safe procedure and no local anaesthetic or sedation is needed. Tiny needles and minute quantities of Botulinum Toxin are precisely injected into the requested facial muscles, you may feel some discomfort during the procedure but this will be minimal.
The Side Effects
Botulinum Toxin is a safe procedure and any of the side effects are temporary.
